First Oprah, now Osama? In his latest audio tape, Osama bin Laden provides Americans with a short list of books he believes we should all read. The tape was released September 13 via the “jihadist” and avid reader’s website “As-Sahab,” which was then translated by the SITE Intelligence Group and IntelCenter, which monitor terrorist sites.
Here’s the required reading:
“The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy” by political scientist Stephen M. Walt and John J. Mearsheimer. The book contends that America’s unbridled support for Israel has been formed by powerful lobbying organizations such as the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, proving to be counter-productive to the countries’ interests.

“Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid” by former President Jimmy Carter, who also happens to be in the news a lot these days. In the book, Carter accesses the Arab-Israeli conflict and opines on how best to fix it. He compares Israeli treatment of Palestinians in the territories to South African apartheid.

“Confessions of an Economic Hit Man,” by economist John Perkins, where he introspectively writes about his financial exploits of international leaders. Perkins claims that during his career as an economist for an international consulting firm interconnected to government agencies, he connived leaders of developing countries to borrowing excessive loans from financial institutions like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund which the countries could not pay back.
