Giorgio Armani and Reebok announced last week they’ve teamed up to create special collections for EA7, the Italian fashion line’s activewear, combining Armani’s sexy style with Reebok’s sport and technology, resulting.

The first collections were presented at Milan Fashion Week this month. Distribution will be limited to Emporio Armani boutiques, select Reebok concept stores and preferred retailers worldwide beginning this July.

“Today sportswear and activewear have become really important parts of our wardrobes. I wanted to offer my customers the possibility of wearing sports clothes that were stylish and comfortable. My new alliance with Reebok is a natural consequence of this philosophy. As with all my collaborations, I am delighted to be working with experts in their field,” said Giorgio Armani in a press release.

Apple is changing the way technology works again, this time it is the iPad, a new tablet device which acts half like an iPhone and half like a laptop. After months of speculation the company’s CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the Apple iPad at its media event in San Francisco.

The iPad is Apple’s attempt to close the gap between cell phones and laptops. The new tablet device comes with an aluminum back and large touchscreen keyboard. It features a modified version of the iPhone OS that allows users to see web pages just as you would on a regular laptop and also plays different types of digital media.

Internally the iPad will comes with a custom 1GHz processor and can be fitted with 16, 32, or 64GBs of storage space. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities are also included.

Flame broiled burgers, fries and now beer? Burger King announced today that it is ready to officially open the chain’s first Whopper Bar in South Beach. The bar is the first fast food restaurant in the U.S. to serve alcohol.

Patrons will be able to buy a combo consisting of a Whopper sandwich, fries and a Anheuser-Busch or Miller Coors brew for $7.99. Whopper Bar is scheduled to open mid-February.

“The official opening of the world’s first Whooper Bar is designed to deliver the ultimate ‘Have It Your Way’ experience,” said Russ Klein, president of global marketing, strategy and innovation for Burger King Co. “This concept allows us to deliver America’s favorite burger in a completely personalized and premium way, and serves as a unique ‘innovation lab’ for new burgers.”

Yeah, sounds good, just don’t experiment in the “lab” to much just serve the burgers and beers.

A new health study suggests that there is a link between men’s sexual activity and heart-disease risk. Apparently, men who shag two or three times a week are at a lesser risk of heart disease than men who reportedly have sex one a month.

“The Researchers found that there was an increasing risk of cardiovascular disease with decreasing frequency,” states the study, which was published in the American Journal of Cardiology. “Compared to men who reported sexual activity at least 2-3 times a week, men with sexual activity of once per month or less had a 45% increased risk of cardiovascular disease during the study period. The findings took into account factors such as age and ED status.”

Having frequent sexual activity might improve health through stress reduction and social support, especially if a man is in a steady relationship.

As if men needed another reason to fornicate, here’s a productive reason to do so, just strap up.

Venezuela’s rambunctious leader, Hugo Chavez, is back at it again with more anti-American chitter-chatter. This time around el presidente is accusing the United States of playing “God” by artificially inducing the 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Haiti with a secret weapon believed by conspiracy theorists to be part of the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP).

Chavez believes the induced earthquake was a training drill and that the weapon’s main objective is to cause destruction in Iran and topple its government.

Is Chavez using this opportunity of suffering to continue his anti-imperilist propaganda or is there something more sinister lying under the surface? Do you own research.

YouTube is about to make it a lot easier for independent filmmakers to reach fans by partnering up with the Sundance Film Festival to make five indie films from the 2009 and 2010 festivals available for rental starting this Friday, Jan. 22 through Sunday, Jan. 31.

Unfortunately only users in the United States will be able to view the award-winning movies. According to YouTube’s blog, an additional “collection of rental videos from other U.S. partners across different industries, including health and education, will be made available in the weeks ahead.” 

The five films that will be available for rental are The Cove and Children of Invention from 2009 as well as Homewrecker, One Too Many Mornings, and Bass Ackwards from 2010. Watch the trailers after the jump.

In another example of who really governs the United States, the land’s highest court voted 5-4 to reverse a 20-year-old ruling that prohibited corporations from spending their general treasuries on campaign ads for presidential and congressional candidates.

The Supreme Court did not reverse course on a provision that prohibits direct contributions to candidates from corporations and unions. Proponents of the law’s new lenient limits have always suggested that strict spending limits on political campaigns were unconstitutional by censoring free speech.

On the other hand, the court’s dissenting view is that “The court’s ruling threatens to undermine the integrity of elected institutions around the nation,” said Justice John Paul Stevens.

Essentially, those with money – i.e. corporations and unions – will have even greater influence in federal campaigns by spending abundant sums of cash on ads geared to their politician of choice, which undoubtedly lead to government favors of all sorts. Yes, this scribe is a cynic, and this law does not benefit the little man.

In the face of increasing criticism about the mishandling of monies, musician Wyclef Jean defended his the motives behind his non-profit organization, Yele Haiti, and also address his beloved compatriots on the island during a press conference yesterday.

Wyclef’s organization came under fire after TheSmokingGun.com reported that Yele Haiti misappropriated money by paying the former Fugees’ member and a business partner “at least $410,000 for rent, production services, and Jean’s appearance at a benefit concert.”

A tearful Wyclef responded to the allegations by saying “I started the charity with my own funds. I wanted to make sure that Yele would not just be a foundation but it would actually be an NGO on the ground in Haiti… Have we made mistakes before? Yes. Did I ever use Yele money for personal benefits? Absolutely not, Yele’s books are open and transparent, and we have been given a clean bill of health by an external auditor every year since we started.”

In the mist of NBC’s late night quagmire TheWrap.com is reporting that the network is reportedly negotiating a $30 million buyout with Conan O’Brien to vacate the Tonight Show’s 11:35 p.m. time slot.

Conan and NBC have been taking shots at each other since the network revealed its intentions to move Jay Leno back to 11:35 after the ill-fated decision to move the host to 10 p.m. exploded in their face.

For their part, the two late night hosts have also been taking volleys at one another this week. On Monday night Conan mocked Leno and NBC’s indecisiveness saying, “This weekend no one was seriously hurt, but a 6.5 earthquake hit California. The earthquake was so powerful that it knocked Jay Leno’s show from 10 o’clock to 11:35.”

Jay returned the diss by explaining that the Tonight Show’s ratings had increased since the controversy started, “So you’re welcome [Conan]!”

FOX is reportedly interested in attaining Conan’s services once he and NBC part ways – stay tuned.

If you love graphic horror films full of guts and blood then you’ll be happy to know the annual horror film festival After Dark Horrorfest is coming back to selected theatres nationwide with its fourth installment of “8 Films to Die For.”

The festival, which features eight independent horror flicks distributed by After Dark Films each year, is scheduled to run from Jan. 29 through Feb. 4. The movies on deck during this year’s Horrorfest are: Dread, The Final, The Graves, Kill Theory, Lake Mungo, Hidden, The Reeds and ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction.
