While some paper champions name Floyd Mayweather Jr. wait for opportune times to fight the best boxers in the sport, two of the sport’s tougher champs are already picking a day to fight each other.
Those two would the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 knockouts), and welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs). This is an intriguing matchup pitting Cotto, who just narrowly beat Joshua Clottey at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, the bigger puncher against the smaller but faster Pacquiao.
Promoter Bob Arum, who promotes both boxers, has tentatively scheduled the fight for Nov. 14 in Las Vegas. One thing is for certain, styles make fights, and these tenacious boxers should be up to give fans a night to remember.
